During the Vietnam War
Joining the Navy
A real story, recorded in HeirLore. Everything below was generated from it automatically.
The narrator recalls deciding to join the Navy to avoid being drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, following advice from their father.
I couldn't find work in Lewiston, and the draft numbers were coming up fast. I figured I'd rather join the Navy than get drafted into the Army and sent to Vietnam. My dad always said — if you're going to serve, go Navy. Dry beds, good food, and you don't get shot at as much.
